Ingrid Newkirk of PETA & Wayne Pacelle of HSUS are brilliant. They have created multi million dollar businesses out of a belief. No buildings, employees, or expenses. Just a cause. The ultimate business. People who justify that cause will send money and resources for their implied needs. No strings attached. Endorsements are given by celebrities which further helps in their marketing strategies.
Business schools should be studying their tactics and teaching their methods to make money.
No the actual organization does not make a dime. It can not it is a non-for-profit or 501c3 business.
But what do the operators/managers/CEOs get paid. The sky is the limit.
What makes them so successful?
Entertainment.
They provide a consistent source of entertainment for a large majority of people. They do and say things with such SHOCK value that we sit at the edge of our chairs waiting to see what they will do or say next.
Ag used to have that marketable lore. The Cowboy.
Eat a steak, ride the range on a horse, camp under the stars, be one with nature.
The COWBOY was large enough that he would cover all our faults.
We could sell the public the toughest steak and people would eat it saying "its the cowboy way".
Not anymore. Those days are long gone.
Now we are the entertainment but for all the wrong reasons.
Videos are being used against us.
Sudo Science and emotion has replaced logical & reasonable problem solving.
Our businesses is being scrutinized and criticized out of existence all for the sake of ENTERTAINMENT. We are making the PETAs and HSUSs rich by continually trying to run our business the "Traditional Way".
We try to counter their attacks with "Traditional Marketing Techniques".
We tell the public how good our product taste and that its really healthy.
We try to hide the fact that we use hormones and antibiotics by not saying anything about them.
We block our ranches with fences and signs that Say "KEEP OUT or ELSE".
We are an easy target.
Whats the answer?
HIDE NOTHING. Lay it all out on the table.
